Spurthy serves as an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems (IS) Area. Her current research interests include exploring, identifying, and resolving complex problems in the Human-Artificial Intelligence Collaboration, Product Management, specifically Gamification, and Health Informatics disciplines, using a combination of behavioral and analytical frameworks. Gates Ventures have partly funded her research on smart diagnostics for clinical trials. Dr. Spurthy has presented her research at major international conferences in the IS, and Health Informatics areas, including DESRIST, AMCIS, and AMIA.  He is the program chair (Academic track) for SPM Summit India 2024
