The pandemic has given rise to a renaissance in the way software products are built and managed. Over the last two days, over 250 diverse individuals from academia and industry came together to discuss their tryst with product development in these trying times.

20 March, 2021: The SPM Summit India 2021 was the 3rd edition of the summit co-hosted by the Centre for Software and IT Management (CSITM) of IIMB and International Software Product Management (ISPMA) following the successful events in February 2019 and January 2020.

A gamut of Software Product Management (SPM) themes through keynote addresses, presentations, and panel sessions, fireside chat, etc. by industry leaders, academics, product and innovation heads made the two-day event very exciting. The Summit consisted three tracks – Academic / Research, Industry and Workshops.

Hans-Bernd Kittlaus felt that the summit re-emphasised the importance of the job of a Software Product Manager in many ways as software has become the value driver across all industries.

Prof. Shankar Venkatagiri fondly recalled how how the Indian Software Industry has gone past the image of being predominantly a provider of Software Services and is now “Venturing into Creation”. He felt that with maturity witnessed in developing Artificial Intelligence driven products, the scenario instils confidence that India is well poised to get the get global recognition of being a power house of Software Products.

**Hans-Bernd Kittlaus**

Hans-Bernd is the chairman of ISPMA e.v. He is founder of InnoTivum Consulting. He is a trainer, coach and consultant for both corporate IT organisations and companies in a number of industries. “Software Product Management: The ISPMA-Compliant Study Guide and Handbook” (with Samuel Fricker, Springer 2017). He was the conference chair for SPM Summit India 2021

Prof.+Shankar+Venkatagiri.jpg — Prof. Shankar Venkatagiri

Shankar is the associate professor of informations systems at IIM Bangalore. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant with Sapient Corporation, Cambridge and Reuters Consulting, Boston. A technologist at heart, he is committed to the spread of digital learning in India. He has done his Phd in Mathematcis & M.S in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Shankar has been developing cases based on the IT scenario in India, some of which are listed on Harvard Business Press. He was the conference chair of SPM Summit India 2021

**Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan**

Prof. Rishi is the director & teaches Strategy at IIMB. He was previously served as Director of IIM Indore. He has written 140 publications including the two books on innovation: *From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India*, published in February 2010, and *8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence* . The latter won the Best Book Award 2013-14 from the Indian Society for Training and Development. He has done double masters one from IIT, Kanpur and the other from Stanford University, USA. He is a fellow from IIM Ahmedabad.

C.Todd Lombardo

Originally trained as a scientist, Todd had job titles ranging from scientist, to engineer, to product manager, to designer, and even professor. He is currently the Vice President of Product & User Experience at MachineMetrics, an industrial IoT platform for manufacturers. He also serves on the adjunct faculty at IE Business School in Madrid, as well as Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). He is a published O'Reilly Media author with three titles: Design Sprint (2015), Product Roadmaps Relaunched (2017), and Product Research Rules (2020).

Krishnaswamy Subbarao

Krishnaswamy (Kitty) is the Vice President, Global Head of Strategy and Products, EdgeVerve (Infosys) Finacle. He has a diverse professional experience of 27 years and contributes as head of product strategy and product management in Finacle. Prior to this he was Co-founder partner of Practicworks, a niche advisory and consulting firm. Prior to this he was the CEO of EXILANT GmbH a company focused creating products in the Industry 4.0 space using IOT. He has experience in driving transformational souring models, heading product engineering groups and large engagement management

He has mastered new company/product launches, creating and communicating strategy for companies ranging from startups to billion-dollar industry giants.

Franco Gatti

Franco Gatti is a senior product manager with almost 20 years of experience with ABB in several technical and management positions. He is currently engaged in a Product Management Excellence Journey to enhance the professional level of ABB large product management community. The journey develops around the key levers of organizational and individual development, optimal processes and efficient tools.

**Haragopal Mangipudi**

Hara is a practitioner-cum-academic in software product management. Adjunct Faculty at IIMB and IIITB. Global board member of ISPMA & chairman of ISPMA India Chapter. Founder of guNaka consulting. A distinguished alumnus awardee from IIM Bangalore and was head of Finacle (Infosys). He was the chair for SPM excellence award jury 2021

Sangeet Paul Choudary

Sangeet Paul Choudary is the founder of Platformation Labs and the best-selling author of Platform Revolution and Platform Scale. He has advised the leadership of more than 30 of the Fortune 500 firms and has been selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. His work on platforms has been selected by Harvard Business Review as one of the top 10 ideas in strategy. He is a frequent keynote speaker at leading global forums including the G20 Summit, the World50 Summit, the United Nations, and the World Economic Forum. Sangeet is a Distinguished Alumnus of IIMB and a Fellow Member of ISPMA.

Gerald Heller works as consultant and trainer on the topics of software product management, requirements management, and agile development. He has more than 30 years of experience in large-scale, global distributed software development. During his professional career he covered almost every aspect of the product development lifecycle.
