SPM 2.0 - UBS Journey to Product Management by Reto Musterle and Sabine Bachmann, UBS

UBS is not a classic software house where the main goal is to generate revenues by building software (systems) for specific client needs. Our software products are one pillar within the whole value proposition to the client. These software products intensively interact with each other, often with strong dependencies in a complex ecosystem. 

We have successfully developed from a project oriented IT organization to a more product driven organization. We will present the challenges we’ve encountered during this transformation and provide useful insights on how we tackled them.

Sabine Bachmann leads the design and implementation of the new Regulatory Tax Reporting Solutions FATCA & AEI for CH, DE, HK, SG. She supported to drive the transformation from a project driven organization into a product-led organization, shaping/establishing the new Software Product Manager role. She is experienced in IT Software Product Management, IT Project Management, Project Portfolio Management, Service Management, Production Support, Quality Assurance, Executive Assisting, Optimization of Management Support/Project Office Units, Vendor Management, Business Analysis, Requirements Management, Leadership, Client Tax Reporting, Regulatory Tax Reporting AEI, FATCA, 871M.

Reto Musterle is a Service and Product Manager Wealth Planning & Financial Advisory, Investment Risk, Financial Profiling. Before that he has occupied various roles, such as Head Business Analysis for Payments Systems, Workbenches and Financing, Section Head Test- and Quality Management, and different management roles at UBS. He holds a Finance degree at Swiss Banking Institute of University of Zurich, along with other certifications, such as ISPMA – Certified Software Product Management (Excellence Level), and Leading SAFe.
