Ramesh Venkateswaran is presently Chairman , Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad and holds additional charge as Chairman, BoG of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sricity, Chitoor. He is an Adjunct Faculty in Marketing in Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
He teaches the flagship long duration and in Executive Development Programmes .
A Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay and a post graduate in Management from IIM Bangalore, Ramesh is the recipient of Distinguished Alumni Award of IIM Bangalore in 2009 and was the Gold Medalist of his PGDM batch of 1980 at IIM Bangalore. Ramesh has had the unique distinction of heading all levels of educational institutions in the country . He has been :
• Chairman , Board of Governors of The Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad : 2020 -2025.
• Director , SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysuru : 2007-2011
• Member of the Board of Governors of The Lawrence School, Lovedale – a 170 year old residential school in Ooty, Tamil Nadu : 2020 – 2023
• Headmaster, The Lawrence School, Lovedale : 2005-2006
Ramesh was a corporate executive and a management consultant who has worked with a wide variety of leading Indian and Multinational companies in the country. Ramesh has been closely connected with the corporate world and education for over 50 years. Ramesh Venkateswaran is also actively involved with various socially relevant issues and projects. These include :
• Founder Member, Chairman and volunteer at Vishwas, a not for profit counselling organization in Bangalore, that offers free and confidential counselling services for people in emotional stress since 1991.
• Trustee in Bangalore Medical Services Trust, a leading blood bank based in Bangalore
• Advisor, OSAAT ( One School At A Time ) to improve rural government schools.
• Former President, The Richmond Fellowship Society, Karnataka – an organisation that offers care to mentally ill adults.
